HMDA to make 2 logistic parks around capital
With the increase in demand for freight logistic support among operators and traders, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has proposed to develop two logistic parks — one at Batasingaram and another at Mangalpally — around Hyderabad soon. The logistic parks would be developed under the Design Build Finance, Operate, Maintain and Transfer basis.
The authority is planning to begin works for the logistic parks in a couple of weeks and if everything goes well, the projects would be completed within a year. As of now, there no logistic park facility for freight providers in the city despite the demand. There is only one such park at Kukatpally on HMDA land while some operators having provided logistic park on a private land.
"The proposed logistic park will be an integrated one stop facility for freight operators, third party logistic service providers, cargo handling firms, truck drivers and will comprise warehouses and parking facilities. The locations have been selected close to the Outer Ring Road (ORR)," HMDA chief engineer BLN Reddytold TOI.
According to the proposal, one logistic park at Batasingaram would be taken up at a cost of Rs 35 crore in about 40 acres land in Hayatnagar mandal and the location is close to Vijayawada highway. Another proposed logistic park is being taken up at a cost of Rs 20 crore at Mangalpally in Ibrahimpatnam in about 22 acres. Mangalpally is about 500 metres from ORR Bonguluru junction on Nagarjunasgar highway.
The developer will develop the logistic park and pay annual lease fee to the development authority for 33 years apart from development fee. The annual lease fee will be increased by five per cent every year.
"If the two logistic parks yields good result, four more logistic parks would be developed in other parts of the city," another senior official of HMDA said.
